Something Special - Mr Tumble Baby Signs Website

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/somethingspecial/

A great site to get you signing - learning some basic baby signs such as; milk, eat, all gone, no, to name a few.

Mr Tumble shows you how to do the sign properly (although regional signs may differ) He says the word at the same time as signing, this enables your child to learn speech and sign at the same time which improves their communication.

Mr Tumble will entertain your child, although may scare you a tad! There are other games and print-outs also.

Baby Signing Books

These delightful books are the most popular baby signing books in the UK.

They are hardy board books (so will survive being chewed and thrown about), beautifully presented showing the illustrated image (by Annie Kubler), word, and instructions how to do the signs, with additional signing tips to help you out.

If you are starting out 'My First Signs' is the book to go for - then add other books to your collection as and when you wish. 'My First Signs' starts you off in baby signing by using the most common words you are likely to use such as Milk, Sleep, and More. There are 40 signs in total so you will find more than enough signs to get you started!

My First Signs - Baby Signing Board Book £4.99

"All children naturally communicate with gestures, even before they develop the ability to speak. By teaching simple sign language to children from as young as seven months, we can help them to convey their emotions and their needs, as well as giving them a valuable head start in their social and intellectual development.
This first signing guide for hearing and deaf children contains over forty key words. The signs are based on British Sign Language, which is in common usage by teachers and parents who sign with their young, and recognised by the deaf community"
The BSL signs in this book are compatible with those used in the Makaton Language Programme, which used signs and symbols with speech to encourage communication and language development.
"We are thrilled to welcome these delightful books....we hope that all babies and their families will enjoy them as much as we did"
